The World’s First “Ultra Low” Emissions HRSGs
Six HRSGs were supplied for the Mitsubishi 501G combustion turbines at the Mystic and Fore River Stations.
Working with combustion turbine maker Mitsubishi, Hamon Deltak designed and built six groundbreaking boilers… without which Massachusetts’ Mystic and Fore River electrical generating plants could not have been built.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection dictated emissions requirements to be what at that time were extremely difficult:
- NOx ≤ 2 ppmvd @ 15% O2
- Ammonia slip ≤ 2 ppmvd 15% O2
- CO ≤ 2 ppmvd @ 15% O2
Hamon Deltak engineers designed static mixing and unique NH3 injection systems to enable the SCRs to meet the new specification, ushering in a new era of low emissions.
